Pilot Flying J Honors US Armed Forces this Veterans Day with Continued Support of Wreaths Across America - Largest operator of travel centers in North America to donate portion of PhilMor coffee refill proceeds on Nov. 11

Brittany Norvell, Communication Coordinator, Pilot Flying J

As the important Veterans Day holiday nears on Nov. 11, Pilot Flying J today announced the next installment of its support of Wreaths Across America, a non-profit organization known for remembering fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching children about the sacrifices made by veterans. Pilot Flying J’s ongoing support of Wreaths Across America started in 2012 and has been highlighted by monetary donations, gala sponsorships and a rolling tribute – in association with the Truckload Carriers Association – to place wreaths on the headstones of fallen veterans.

To honor and recognize the U.S. armed forces, Pilot Flying J is donating a portion of its proceeds, up to $25,000, from the sale of 20 and 24 ounce PhilMor travel coffee refills on Veterans Day to Wreaths Across America. Funds raised will go towards the sponsoring of a special section of the Arlington National Cemetery on National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 17.

“We are honored and humbled to create moments of joint recognition for the U.S. armed forces through Wreaths Across America,” said Jim Haslam, Pilot Flying J founder and chairman. “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Wreaths Across America and show our appreciation to those who deserve it most – the men and women who protect our freedom.”

The mission of Wreaths Across America is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states. The cost of its programs is paid for by individual wreaths sponsors, corporate donors such as Pilot Flying J, and volunteer professional truck drivers.

“Without the continued, dedicated volunteerism and support of the trucking industry, Wreaths Across America would not be able to accomplish its mission to the extent that we do today,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. "It is because of the commitment from carriers, professional drivers and the awesome team at Pilot Flying J that we have been able to remember, honor and teach at countless cemeteries across the country. When the need is there, Pilot Flying J is the first to answer the bell, and we are so grateful for their continued commitment.”
