Our core curriculum fosters individual and organizational learning and growth through a variety of techniques, including hands-on training, e-learning, self-study and classroom immersion. This robust curriculum has helped us reinforce our commitment to creating a culture of professional and leadership development for our team members.
Pilot Flying J University is headquartered in the Knoxville, TN Sales and Support Center with a course catalog including both classroom instruction and online virtual education, with content focused on leadership development and best-in-class customer service. Classes are held throughout the year, enabling team members and future leaders to continue their learning and create networking opportunities in order to share best practices and build relationships that strengthen the company.
The A-Level General Managers Training (AGMT) Class is one of our signature courses designed to help our managers “connect the dots” between their hands-on field training and the initiatives that are communicated by senior leadership. This week-long class focuses on connecting AGMTs with subject matter experts on a variety of topics, as well as developing leadership and customer service skills. The AGMT class is an important milestone in the leadership career path at Pilot Flying J.
Operations Designates are the utility players of Pilot Flying J. With our unique business model, a candidate has the ability to experience a wide range of key roles within our organization. Operations Designates are trained in multiple areas and then placed in a role that best suits the needs of the company, as well as their personal growth and development. This process allows Operations Designates to take the next step in their career much faster with their expanded knowledge of our business.
The Pilot Flying J Leadership Academy helps us turn recent college graduates into managers and leaders for our field operations. The program includes both classroom and hands-on learning; providing these future managers with a thorough introduction to the culture and operations of Pilot Flying J, extensive field training in our “Coaches Club” locations, networking opportunities with subject matter experts at the Sales and Support Center, and classroom learning focused on developing and refining leadership skills.
Our summer internship program is designed to help college students develop and solidify their career paths by connecting them to departments related to their academic interests. Throughout this 10-week program, students will garner an in-depth understanding of our company culture and operations, further develop life skills and their personalized career path and complete a combined group project that tackles major initiatives within the company.
